New Hardware - Confused

Please help....

I replaced my underpowered 2.93Ghz Celeron, 1GB RAM processor and motherboard last week with a new Asus MB, 2GB RAM and an AMD Phenom 9600 Quad core processor.

I was starting to have issues with my CPU usage peaking at 100% giving me an occasional pixalization in HD viewing. I guess the old MB just could not handle Comskip, the Playon Sever, Logmein, and ORB ( for my Iphone) processes running at the same time as SageTV.

In addition to upgrading Comskip to handle H.264 (HDPVR) I am now running all of the above without a hiccup. My CPU usage does not go over 25% with everything running. The responsiveness on my extenders has increased dramatically. My WAF is great . I'm not rebooting the SagetV server every day or two. I can honestly say everything is working perfectly.

I'm confused. I'm bored. What do I do next? Is the fun over? Does anyone else feel my pain?

Yep, now all you can do is sit back knowing you have nothing to worry about.

you can always start playing with BMT and Sage Movie Wall if you haven't already done so....

Those guys put a lot of time an effort into developing some really sweet stuff, and always welcome help from the community...

thats what i do at least.

Now that you have everything working perfectly, you can take a disk image of your boot drive (if you haven't done so already). Then if the system fails, you can recover it. It is also a good idea to download the BIOS and drivers from the system board's web site, and store them multiple places. If you still have extra cash, you could purchase an identical system board if it is still available, as a spare system board. If the system board fails, then you will also be ready to resolve that problem right away.

Now you can add more storage, and start ripping your DVD collection to the system so you don't have to use the media anymore. That'll require you to configure the Batch Metadata Importer plugin, get your fanart running, etc . It's a never-ending cycle at my house... Get everything stable & running fine, add more media till storage is full, add more storage, add more media till THAT storage is full, rinse and repeat...

Hopefully soon I'll be adding a couple HDPVR's to the mix on my system, so I get to play the get everything stable game again, YAY .

You could look at using the Sage server for home automation or similar other pursuits.

Or you could do like me and just go build a truck.

Note that this mod requires a high WAF...
