Is SageTV client supposed to be able to play back DVRMS files?

I'm looking at converting to SageTV from Vista MCE. I've currently pointed SageTV to look at my "Recorded TV" directory and the file names show up with thumbnails appropriately and will play back on the SageTV server machine.

On the client however, I just get the spinning circle. Other files in the my videos section work fine (I've tried with and without SageMC).
Any ideas?

Make sure you have installed and chosen a decoder in SageTV that play DVRMS files.

Also, if files have DRM, SageTV Client will need to access the files itself rather than stream them via the SageTV server. That means using UNC paths for the recording dirs or being able to map drive letters on the client PC to the recording location.

ATSC dvr-ms files have issues with non-MS decoders, they lie about the resolution. There are work arounds, but the best approach if you want to keep them long term is to dump the metadata and put them in a different container (like mpeg ps).
