Silly question: 4x3 TV and Sage files at 720x480

Yes this is a silly question but why is it if I choose "source" as my setup in the "settings" that I get a black border on my Sony Trinitron TV(5 years old)?

If I choose 4x3 or fill then it cuts off picture (top and bottom).

Is this my tv?

Is this Sage?

Is this my cable or recording settings? (For Long DVD)?

I'm really wondering if I'm missing everything just watch basic cable and digital cable like this too?

Someone fill me in please!

Thanks,
Chris

If your picture gets cutoff adjust the overscane settings in Sage.

Will that stretch and/or distort my original picture or recordings?

For the most part it shouldn't. Most TV's overscan a certain percentage-yours just maybe overscaning more than most and more than the default settings Sage uses. You could also try another decoder if you have one installed. I've seen one decoder handle source perfect for TV and DVD. And another dedcoder when set for source handles DVD fine but for TV there was a black border going around the entire TV picture.

Adjusting the "overscan" just seems to adjust my display for volume and settings, etc. not the actual picture in the background.

I'll play with a few other decorders, but I'm really happy with the one from my PVR-250 they provide.

Any just so everyone knows I'm using the latest beta. 2.14

Its not the overscan settings. Its the zoom settings. The aspect ratios are just predefined zoom settings.

See-I hate it when I'm not sitting in front of Sage TV.

Ah HA!!!

That's what I'm looking for. Thanks so much for the help!

I'll play with those until I get them where I need them.
