How to get Blaster working with STB

If Possible, I need some smart guys to provide some basic suggestions.

I recently purchased the Hauppague 1600 tuner for my XP (motherboard is PCI, not PCI Express) and installed the IR blaster software for use with Comcast cable and the DTA (Pace DC50x ) adapter. The tuner card works fine.

But the IR blaster control codes were last updated in 2007 and were already not functional / prepared to deal with the 2007 or newer Cosmast STBs... Hauppague technical support said they no longer update codes for that product and that I should have a nice day.

Phase II - I’d like to use Sage TV / video card as a replacement of my SD TIVO. Very straightforward. No hi def or multiple tuners

1) Will Sage TV awaken the PC from hibernate mode and record the program to disk?

2) After reading a large number of forum messages, I’m unclear as to how to control an IR blaster to control the Comcast STB channel and how to obtain the IR control codes for their boxand which application uses them .

3) Can I use the IR blaster that plugs into the Hauppague tuner board or do I need a some other hardware (like USB-IR
