My new HD200 keeps crashing - SOLVED
I just received my HD200, hooked it up, updated it and everything seemed to be OK. When I selected 'Filesystems', it locked up, activity light went dark, and it no longer responded to the remote. I power-cycled it and it came back. I tried 'Filesystems' again, and again it crashed. Tried one more time and gave up.
The next problem I ran into is if I switch my multimedia receiver to a different HDMI input and leave it there for a while, when I come back to the port that has the HD200 connected, the HD200 is dead. No HDMI ouput at all. The activity light is on, but it doesn't respond to the remote. This is also consistent over several tries. I know my PS3 goes into standby when I switch to a different HDMI port, then activates once I return to it. The HD200 isn't recovering. It isn't practical to leave it selected all of the time. Lastly, I assumed the HD200 was effectively a 'Client-in-a-box'. Why then isn't there some mechanism for watching live TV or get and set the program guide? Those buttons on the remote do nothing. In between all of these tests I've accessed the STV app and it is working properly. I've also accessed the the server via PlaceShifter on another computer and it works as it should. Whatever is happening is specific to the HD200. As I said, I just got the HD200 and haven't searched the forums for answers, but I was hoping someone would have some ideas (other than reading the HD200 manual which I haven't located yet). |

Try the beta firmware; to do that go into Settings->System Update and then type '2382' on your remote; then do the update.
And you should see your SageTV Server in the menu called 'SageTV Servers'; if you don't; then there's probably some issue with the network setup. (DHCP/static ip not setup, cable not plugged in, etc.)

You can just connect to the server and then do all the SageTV PVR stuff within that UI.

Well, everything is working now. I still have to check the HDMI issue. I see where I went wrong. After one of the reboots I forgot to select the Server to connect to. I somehow got the impression this would be done automatically. Without realizing it I was in Stand-alone mode (the sudden change in GUI should have been a clue ). Chalk it up to old age and fresh-out-of-the-box lack of experience.
Should the HDMI fail again, I'll post it here. |
