I wonder why the options aren't displayed when always_use_dshow_player=true? Also, I was actually having issues with the subtitle options when I was getting video using ffdshow as my decoder with that option set to false. I could enable subtitles but it wouldn't allow me to select any subtitles.

If you flip to the default STV and import the STVi Mike created does the option show up?

I can modify the filter to always send subtitles (reg key to enable) if that would be useful.

Yes, that kind of option would probably be useful.

I tried the default STV with that STVi and it worked. I didn't realize that I needed to use the Closed Caption options rather than the normal Subtitle options. I went back to SageMC and saw the CC options on the menu and enabled them and they magically appeared.

I'll have to try it out once I get back home but at least over RDP with a tiny thumbnail window they are HUGE and get cut off. They don't scale with the window size as with vsfilter.

The filter pretends to be a CC (line 21) decoder, that's why it's controled that way.

It pushes the text to Sage, and it controls all the rendering. I imagine there's a way to tell it what font size to use, but I'm not sure how.

Thank you very much for clearing up my confusion and for the wonderful dx filter.

I've noticed the Arcsoft Video Decoder when working with H.264 doesn't work well without hardware acceleration. At least on my system anyway. I get weird periodic contrast "pops" where it begins brightening in steps and then pops back to normal about every 5-10 seconds. With hardware acceleration I don't get that problem.

Can you guys go into a little more detail on how to Regsvr32 the ax file with windows vista I am getting a the module filed to load message.

If I already have sageMC running would that change the install process? I'm thinking the loading of the new stv unloads Sagemc, then you have to reload it yes?

Are you running x64? If so, you need to us the 32bit version of regsvr32.

Yeah I'm using 64 so is that version of regsrv32 on my computer or is it something I need to download? Sorry for the newb questions. I saw the instructions for the escalated command prompt earlier in the post.

Ok so I have a HD200 and from the earlier posts it looks like it should handle srt sub titles but I have a Defiance.mkv that I can not get subs to show up on and also the movie patton. I have tried both subtitle eng setting (gives me subs only when they are speaking English lol) and the cc1 and cc2 options. I used mkvmerge to look at the video and it only shows what I think are the sub files listed as S_TEXT/UTF8(type subtitles). How do I tell if the files have the SRT sub? Is there another way to get them to show? Missing some good dialog in both movies.

S_TEXT/UTF8 are SRT.

Saw your post on the way in to work, so I threw an installer together on the train.

Give it a go and let me know if it works (I don't have an x64 box to test on).

If I click on the link directly it takes me here and gives me this message

"Application Firewall Alert

Your request triggered an alert! If you feel that you have received this page in error, please contact the administrator of this web site.

To immediately resolve this problem. You can login to your hosting control panel->security->Security guard and set the security guard to Medium Level for your domain name."

If I right click and save the zip file then try to open it gives me a "does not appear to be a valid archive file"

Thanks for all you help

My hosting service seems to have enabled some kind of direct link "protection" for referrer urls.

I was able to test it in a VM when I got home, so I just updated the main dl link.

Let me know if that works.

if you're using SageMC it should just be there, I haven't tried to import the STVi in the default STV.

Yes the CC options are there just was not able to select them the box is not working now. I'll try a fresh install of everything this weekend and see if I can get it to work. The installer installed to my operating system correct I will not have to reinstall after a fresh install of Sage?

You can check that it installed properly by downloading GraphStudio and looking at the installed filters.

ffdshow is a bad neighbor... if you lower its merit and disable h264 in the codecs tab your HWA enabled h264 decoder should join then.
