Viewing files using SageTV Client
I have SageTV client installed on my laptop and SageTV installed on my HTPC. I would like to be able to watch recorded shows on my laptop when I travel. I thought I might be able to copy the files to my laptop and then use the Client to view them. However, it looks like the Client can't work without the server.
My workaround is to use Windows Media Player. Can this be done with SageTV Client? |

Client doesn't really work if it can't see the server.
You are better off just copying the files over, and opening with media player. The client doesn't do anything that special anyways when you have a mouse and keyboard right next to you. |

The client is more thin than that. I don't think there's an acceptable way to do what you're trying to do. The unacceptable way would be to open the server's SageTV port(s?) on your firewall and try to stream from the server over the internet. You'd need a mighty fast network connection on both ends and in between, thus the label of unacceptable.

That's what I figured.
