Plus TV Analog Lite PCI (PVR-TV 7134SE)

Hi!

I have a Plus TV Analog Lite PCI (PVR-TV 7134SE). It's detected by SageTV as "TV713X BDA Driver".

SageTV recognized it Ok, and I can watch Live TV, but the CPU climb UP until 80% and the fan sounds like an air conditioner!!

I know it's a very cheap card, but with the bundled card software (HyperMediaCenter) the CPU doesn't go so high and the PC works cool.

Why is this difference between the bundled software and SageTV? I can't understand it. Is there any way to avoid this?

Thanks in advance!

This is a software encoding card. It will require some significant horsepower to use it. You're much, much better off with a hardware encoding card.

The reason for the difference in CPU usage, is that the bundled software is not encoding the video, it is just passing it encoded directly to the video card. sage, on the other hand, needs to to be encoded to work, so that it can record and timeshift. Since the card has no onboard encoder, this has to be done in software.
