iPhone/iPod Touch web remote interest?
I have been working on an iPhone/iPod Touch friendly remote interface and I wanted to see what kind of interest there is.
Right now I am using ASP.NET MVC and iUI but may change that so that you don't have to have IIS installed to have it work. Here are some screenshots: Main Menu Remote Buttons Update: By the way, this does require nielm's Web User Interface. Last edited by maxpower; 06-04-2009 at 09:51 AM. |

This looks neat but personally I would prefer an iPhone/iPod Touch Placeshifter client, including playback capabilities.

I agree -- neat, but I have a Harmony remote which works just fine. I'd be more interested in a SageTV web interface that works in iPhone. (And I'd gladly pay for it!)

Well I do think this could be useful if it could replicate the functionality of iTunes remote app... If I can control my music with my iphone while hanging out on the deck, that would be pretty sweet. But it would need to be able to display information on the iphone so you could select from a list and see what's playing, etc.. It wouldn't be very useful as just a blind remote.

I currently dont have an iPhone or iPod Touch, but will by September (contract expiring vs the new Touch being released) and was already looking for a good SageApp.
A remote is not as usefull - unless it can control stuff you would use a party or something - slideshows or music. I was hoping more for something that acts like the DirectTV app we see featured on TV that would allow me to set recordings easily from both at Home as well as from work. A small fee for this would be acceptable. If we could get a native placeshifer client too, I would def pay for that. Keeping in mind it would never be as full featured as the current placeshifter and the quality would likely be worse, that should be taken into pricing consideration. Just my thoughts...

iPod Touch Remote
I think this is a great idea. We've got a few iPod touch's. Currently we're using an old MCE remote and IR Blaster. This remote doesn't have all the functionality that I want and to get the functionality I want I would have to spend some big $$$ for a touch screen remote.
This post is a little old so I don't know if the project was dropped....hope not.

Only of interest to Windows folks but I use the Intelliremote server on my Vista HTPC ($24) and the (free) Intelliphone app on my iPhone as a remote for all my HTPC functions, including SageTV. In fact, I've been working with the developer to fine-tune the SageTV profile and fix a few bugs
(Intelliremote also plays nicely "real" remotes as well if you have the IR receiver attached). |

I'd spend even more than $5 to control it!

It's the the placeshifter on the iphone vs. remote on the iphone comparing apples and oranges? They server 2 different functions completely.
