HVR-2250 is rescanning the second tuner nessary?
I would think the two tuners would see the same thing as they're fed by the same antenna. What's the advantage of rescanning tuner #2?

The digital tuner, right? The advantage is ending up with a tuner that can tune the channels it can receive.
i.e.: Yes, you need to scan with each digital tuner. - Andy

Thanks for the quick reply, it's a dual tuner with a single antenna input. I would assume they get the same channels...

I don't see a need to rescan. I have the HVR-2250 and opt to use the same channel lineup when asked and haven't had an issue. Bigger problem was dealing with digital vs analog. Apparently when you select the same channel lineup (say Comcast Digital) you need to use a separate lineup for digital vs analog or you will end up with duplicate channels in the EPG.
Anyway, I just scan on 1 analog and 1 digital (separate copy of the same listng) and then elect to use for the other.

Quote:
There are other tuner configuration shortcuts too, but SageTV recommends doing a channel scan on ALL digital tuners for completeness, making sure the subchannels all tune properly, etc. If you are having digital tuning issues and you haven't done a channel scan, you will be asked to do so. - Andy
