Sage Please Make a Wiz Cleaner
I have been using sagetv for over 6 years now and as you can guess I've gotten pretty attached to it. But sadly enough all this tv watching has caused my wiz.bin file to get pretty cluttered and it takes sage abput 15 to 30 minutes to load up when its first started up. Now I know this is the problem since I can move the wiz files out temporarily and sage will start right up

You could try what this FAQ says:
SageTV is taking a long time to start. Is there a way to make its startup process go faster? - Andy

the problem still persists whenever sagetvserver is loaded at boot it locks the taskbar and I have also noticed that other things dont load right either like I cant access the disk management snap-in in admisitration console either until sagetvserver is finished loading I have buttoned down the problem to the wiz.bin file if I use a fresh wiz.bin I dont have these problems only when I use my old wiz.bin does this happen after sagetvserver has fully loaded and I can launce the interface does the system continue to function normally I wish there was some way to find the problem or clean any garbage out of the wiz.bin file so I can keep my ir prefernces and all data from my previous recordings

The best thing would be to just have an option to rebuild the library in general so that one could move shows around to different folders, do the rebuild, and wind up with everything back in the library properly as well as any orphan info deleted. I am a huge fan of Sage but the one huge glaring exception that I miss from BeyondTV is that with BTV, I could drag/drop shows wherever I wanted and BTV would pick them up no problem including any associated info.
I realize there is a FAQ method for moving shows, but honestly who has time to totally shut down the server, back up the wiz.bin, move the shows, restart Sage, check to see if they all got detected, if they didn't then shut down Sage, restore the wiz.bin, change the "advanced recovery" value, restart Sage, check all the shows again, shut down sage, change the flag back and restart Sage? I also still have a ton of shows that are in one of my media folders that show up in the recordings list but also in the media center/video list. Like I said, I'm a huge fan of Sage but this is one area where a couple of day's development on a small utility would produce an enormous benefit. |
