They might be giants dvd

Here's one for you guys. We have "Here Come the 123's" and "Here Come the ABC's" DVDs from They Might Be Giants. I recently ripped them and put them on to my server.

I have a PC in the living room with Sage. For some reason when I play either of these two DVDs on that PC I get no sound. I can play them on both of our other PC's and the other 50 or so DVDs in my collection work.

Any ideas? I thought it might be the AC3 codec, but as I said every other dvd works.

Thanks in advance.

no idea about the sound, but how are those DVDs? We were thinking about picking them up for our daughter.

Thumbs up figured it out

Well, I figured it out. For some reason the default decoder it was using would not work. I tried following some other posts about the problem, but it just would not work. I ended up finding a free codec set that I downloaded and installed.

That codec, though, comes with ffdrun which some people on this forum don't seem to like. But I did not see a reason why.

Anyway, after installing the codecs and then choosing the AC3 codec in the menu it all worked.

david1234, concerning the DVDs, I have yet to watch them because the sound never worked. We will try to get our boy to watch them this week and I will try to remember to get back to you.

David - We have the They Might be Giants "Here come the ABC's". They songs are rather quirky (in an enjoyable sort of way) by adult standards. However my kids really like them, and I would recommend this DVD. If it helps my children are 1 and 3.

We actually have the CDs. I was just wondering if the DVDs were worth picking up too.

My kids CD recommedation for the day- Barenaked Ladies- "Snacktime". You can't go wrong with a song about ninjas

David - Oh, I see. I would guess that you would find the DVD worth it if you like the songs. The videos are pretty neat, again in a TMBG kind of way.

BTW, I only have one DVD and was not aware there was more than one "Here come the ABC's" DVD.

These DVDs are 2 channel LPCM. I think there's a bug with how SageTV handles that kind of audio. I just get glitchy digital noise when trying to play them through the HD-200 (connected via optical cable and set to bitstream output).
