Video & Audio Setting Options

I'm currently using Dscaler to deinterlace. What settings is everyone using and why ? I know there are CPU speed implications. I have a Pentium 4 2.53 Ghz, and am using the Blended Clipping and Double Refresh settings. Any experiences or alternatives ? Anyone prefer Direct X ?

As to audio, I know the options for the decoder and renderer are determined by installed software already on your system, in my case DVD players and soundcard drivers. What choices do you prefer ? Any sources out there for downloading superior alternatives.

I'm running Win XP Home. I have both PowerDVD and WinDVD audio decoders available. I have an M-Audio AP2496 soundcard. I'm using the Hauppauge 350 PVR card.

I'd give you feedback, but I'm running SageTV on an athlon 600 mhz computer at the moment with the provideo 256T card, so I don't have enough horsepower to run the dscaler stuff. As for video and audio settings, though, I have an ATI video card, so I run with the Ravisent filters for both video and audio - that combination gives me the best picture and audio. For the deinterlacing, I primarily use BOB as opposed to Weave or Bob and Weave.

I actually just switched to running Dscaler and using the Greedy2Frame plugin that works pretty well on my 1.4 Ghz Celeron machine. I've been trying different plugins during the basketball games and this seems to work the best for my setup. But my PC isn't fast enough to use Double Refresh Rate.

Your DScaler settings sound like one of the best ones. I do think DirectXVA is better on lower CPU power systems because they can do a 60fps bob by using only 30fps of bandwidth, and most lower power systems can't do double refresh rate.

As for audio filters, I've never been able to tell the difference...except that sometimes certain filters misbehave, which is why I gave the option to change it. I usually just use the MPEG Audio Decoder that came with Windows, seems to do the job just fine.
