Ignore watched flag?

Is there any way to tell Sage to always record all episodes of a show even if they have already been watched? Reason I ask is, I record a lot of shows for my kids, and they just want some different episodes each day, they don't really care if it is one they saw 2 weeks ago. The "clear watched" feature seems to only clear whatever episodes are currently recorded, not the history of the whole program.

Thx

Rob

You could clear the Watched flag before/when you delete the show, or go to the Favorite Details menu and use the option to clear the watched status for all the shows in the Advanced Options dialog. That way, you at least get different recordings until most have been watched & you reset the flag.

Rob,

Please submit as an "official" feature request by submitting under "Request Official SageTV Technical Support".

I have been asking for this for years.... Maybe if enough users ask they'll eventually see value in it.

Here's my original proposal for this issue... wow, coming up on four years... maybe I should give it up

Andy, doesn't the "watched" flag assist Sage's Intelligent Recordings feature? I know I read that in the manual. So, wouldn't clearing it cause Sage to "forget" that it's a show the user liked? The manual doesn't (or didn't) mention that part.

I will defintely add a feature request. There's a bunch of stuff that would make the UI kid-friendly, like giving a choice to start from the beginning of the show when re-watching, especially when putting shows in a playlist. I realize most people watch a show once and delete it, but my kids re-watch stuff all the time and I need to be able to stack 3 or 4 shows up for my kids and know that when each one comes on it will start from the beginning.

The problem is that only clears for the shows that are currently in the recordings, which if you have it on auto-delete as I do for Spongebob does not always give you the opportunity to remove the 'watched' flag before a show gets deleted and replaced.

That's why I told you how to reset all of them via the Favorite Details menu. I let my kids go through most episodes, then clear the Watched flag on all of them so they can record again w/o seeing repeats until after they've watched a whole bunch of others first. When I notice there aren't (m)any unwatched airings coming up, I can reset the whole series.

Andy,

How do you manage to keep a few of particular shows?

You can set keep at most, but not keep at least. You can set it to manual delete, but then you have to go in and delete shows or it still will not record new ones.

I just don't see this as that easy of a work around.

I guess I must be missing something in the difficulty of this request.

As always, thanks very much for your insight.

My kids don't like to delete shows after they watch them & will also watch them multiple times. So, I periodically check their recordings for ones where most of a series are watched, then make sure there are some unwatched ones coming up soon before deleting a few. I don't do this very often.

And, since a lot of their shows seem to air 75 times a day, by not allowing their Favs to auto-delete, the schedule isn't constantly full of shows being recorded & dumped shortly afterwards.

It would be very nice to be able to keep a min # for my shows. That's one thing that I miss about BTV. I agree, not much of a problem for kid's shows when Spongebob is on approximately 1,474,243 times a day LOL.

I've also asked Support for the ability to record favorites regardless of the "watched" setting multiple times in the last 3 years.

Manual efforts such as clearing the watched status flags (and remembering to clear the watched status flags) first seem to be the only current solution.
