Dish/HD-PVR problem - can I disable the Vip211k "screensaver"?

Problem #631 in my WHS reinstall and move to Dish (on the bright side, I probably only have ~15 left to go).

The Vip211k receiver kicks into "standby" or "screen-saver mode" after not being actively viewed to a period of time. You have to hit "select" on the remote to continue. This is bad when you're using a HD-PVR to try and change channels to record.

Admittedly I haven't had a chance yet to dig around in the reciever menus to see if you can turn off. I'm assuming there's some way around this as other folks have said Dish works just fine with Sage and the HD-PVR.

Note also that I'm using the IR blaster right now, although I'm going to switch over to USB-UIRT very soon in case that somehow provides a solution (e.g. it automatically sends select before changing channels).

Great to know there's a solution, although I was hoping for an easier one. This means a few more hours of futzing probably... ah, the joys of HTPC. A Tivo for every room would have been so much easier.

Could this be a underhanded way of forcing folks to use their in house dvr's?

If Dish had a whole-house DVR, I wouldn't even be running everything through Sage. Those bums

Is the screensaver just something they added recently? I didn't read squat about it until now.

Don't quote on this..........But I think the SS "problem" started back with the last firmware update this march
