Generate STVI under the STV UID file difference

If I edit an STV and then load the original in and generate the STVI between the original and the new STV, should that import work to convert the original STV to look just like the new STV?

I edited the original SageMC STV and added some changes to the code, and then loaded the original back in and did a UID comparison and genrated the STVI. I then imported the STVI while running the original SageMC STV, and it seemed to jumble it up and have a few orphaned widgets..

Is this only for simple code additions and not really for changes and edits?

Thanks,
Jeff

The import generator creates an import to update another STV to the one currently loaded. So...

No. If you edit an STV, then reload the original, compare to the new one, & create an import based on the original STV, you've now created an import to convert the edited STV back to the original.

You need to keep the new one loaded when you do the comparison to the original.

I know my explination was a bit jumbled also... I did load the orignal and then do the comparison to the new one I had edited. I then applied the STVI to the orignal and expected it to look like my edited version. When I looked at the new version that was generated from the original and the STVI import, there was a bunch of orphaned widgets...

Thanks,
Jeff

EDIT: my reading is a bit jumbled as well... I just understood what you were saying... I will give that a go and see how that works...
