I'm digging the video background. In VMR9 you'll actually see different shades of translucent blue in different areas of the windows depending on which menu screen you're on. Like on the Main menu the graphic area where the text is located it is darker shade of blue than the next are that encircles that. That area is almost clear. And the menu bar is the solid blue it's always been. In some menus it's lighter shade and if you pick an option that pops up a dialog box, that box is just about solid. All in all-it's just too cool.

Has anyone noticed the transparent overlay seems to cause the video to skip a bit. Sometimes causing the video and audio to get out of synch for a few seconds. Disabling Overlay Color Keying fixes it, however I can't use the transparent overlay.

I'm not even deleting an episode and I can't get out of the list of episodes and back to the list of shows. Killer bug. Makes the application completely unusable for me...

The new transparent menu system looks great, and so far only seen the "delete show- can't go back on show list menu" bug.

The inline category allows wrapping in the right pane list of episodes, but the left pane list of categories still doesn't wrap.

It would be nice if the Option command (and right mouse click, once full mouse support is in, since that is also the Option command) would pop up a menu where you can choose the screen's display choice rather than having it cycle through the screen configurations one by one.

Edit: also, the Back command doesn't always go back to the previous screen anymore. Ex: At the main menu, enter the Sage Recordings list. Use the Menu/Home command (not the left arrow key) to go to the main menu. You cannot now use the Back command to return to your previous screen: the recorings list. BUT, it you go Main menu - recordings list -> detailed info -> Home... then you can use the Back command to go back through all those screens.

You can hit REWIND to get out of the right pane when stuck, too...

Still a bug, but a lot better workaround than hitting HOME every time.

The more that I play with Beta 14, the more I like it. The translucent overlay is really nice and the readability problems can easily be fixed through tweaking the tranparency level (if someone finds it a problem). I also like the new delete behavior . Before, a tuner would be activated when I deleted the active program (even if none was active before hand). Now, the OSD goes opaque and I can select the next program that I want to watch.

I also notice that with the two column recording view that if you have too many of one show they don't all show up. For example, I have 23 episodes of King of Queens, but it will only show the first 19 and then wraps back to number 1. However, if I change to the single column view all 23 show up. Of course, like you guys when I delete a show it isn't removed from the list until I leave this menu and re-enter into it.

One problem I haven't been able to work around yet is when you have parental controls turned on. If the screen has text overlayed on top of video and you select a file that requires an access code you get overlayed text on top of overlayed text on top of video. It's not readable at all.

if you delete a file with the old work around from.013
I got no problems at all
the entry was gone everything
I guess just easy for me since most of recording end early
simpsons, futurama, etc....
I kind of wish you could choose what panels you wanted to be clear and what to be blue when not using VMR9 and 3d accel

I have to say WOW! There are many improvements to this release. I like it a lot and have only noticed one bug. I'm not having any of the problems that people are talking about. My bug is in the picture library, but I know this was the first time it's been released, so I can handle it. Some pictures don't show full screen even though the thumbnail shows (just get a white screen). Also, thumbnails don't seem to be generating for all pictures.

Well, so far it's better than any of the other betas. Mainly because it actually works... mostly... on my computer. The old betas would lock up my computer after two seconds of video out to the 350 on the client. .14 does not.... unless I turn the UI out to 350 on. This is a bug that I will report.

After 10 mins or so of playing, the only real issue (besides lockup) is that in the two-column recording listing, as I scroll through the shows on the left, there are ghosts displayed in the right-hand col from the past shows listed. Actually, the ghosts appear on both sides. They are not as bright as the listed shows, but after a few mins of scrolling, it gets annoying.

A few other quirks, but since this is the first beta that I have gotten to work on my system, I have some time to play. All-in-all, it looks good. I would like a "live tv" button that will just get rid of all the menus, etc. It's probably there, but I just can't find it (I am using silver hauppauge with color buttons).

Keep up the good work guys.

Chris

Correction: The ghosting of text happens everywhere. The reason that I missed it the first time out was because it does not happen when the video background is on (I like that I can turn that on/off with the yellow button). Anyway, when the vid bg is off, the characters ghost...

And I realized the back/exit button did what I wanted... Doh!

Will there ever be support for HDTV (e.g. MyHD 120)?
