Being an ATSC tuner card, there is no encoding - it just writes the stream to disk (not sure about QAM, but I'd imagine it's the same).

Encoding format

It creates MPEG2 video files in sage for QAM and ATSC programs. It has a low CPU overhead so I think the card does its own Mpeg encoding. It does not nativly save to M4v or any other compressed format. Its about 6.8GB for a 1hour ATSC show at 1080p in mpeg2.

Scan to get all channels using new AverMedia HDTV Duet Card

I have had good luck scanning using (QAM Standard) for Channels but most are encrypted HDTV? Primarily getting only local channels. Is there a solution work around for this. I am using straight cable into AverMedia HDTV Duet card unable to even view the weather channel? Maybe a patch??? Can someone offer a suggestion...Thanks, commshopctr

No. Your only option is to get a STB and a HD-PVR to capture the encrypted channels.
