One more thing you might want to try to improve the blurry condition is to make sure the TV is converged well, there's a Convergence setting in the menu that will display either an cross in the center of the screen or a crisscross patter across the whole screen, that could make a big difference.

right, stranger.

that's kinda where i was going in saying that he should make sure his frequencies in powerstrip are as close to 33.75 and 59.97 as possible.

on my hitachi if a stray to far from 59.97 (ie. 59.75 ish) the convergence gets noticably out of whack. not severe but noticable.

as you state the general convergence must be good too but i'm assuming his is ok as he only mentioned fuzziness with the htpc connection.

i guess the true test is how good a dvd looks in comparrison to his set top player.

On my parent's Mits, it seems that Convergence it per input or at least per scan frequency. I'm guessing he hasn't converged the PC input so I could be out of whack. Plus convergence seems to drift over time.

I converged it on the 920x500 and it made a small difference, the 960x540 stil is so so.

As for the video cable, I picked us (sepnt way too much) at COMPUSA (had to have it) a Belkin gold series cable.

Ok now to get the sound working and an IR blaster, I guess compusa for that too if I dont mail order.

Any good suggestions on where to get both at a good price.

Marc

ps. typed on my RPTV

good point.

i'd still lean to his cable being of mediocre quality or connections not tight enough first though.

i'm a wire to blame first kinda guy

Audio out

Onbe more Q? on the audio out? My cable box only has the component audio out that is being used and a digital (coaxial) output. Should I take the audio out from the tv into the PVR and then back into the TV? hmmmmm

you want to go from the cable box audio out. install the second cable i linked - one into the white output and another into the red output. then connect your exist red/white wires going to the tv into one of the plugs from each pair coming from the back of the cable box.

now hook the small 1/8" jack of the first wire i linked into the back of the pvr250 and the corresponding red/white rca ends into the remaining outlets of the second cable.

UPDATE-Good news

Ok, all the audio cables are hooked up and live tv is working. The sound through the onboard audio is a bit low, I have the volume all the way up on the PC and then the tv volume. You can hear a little hiss. I will work on this another time.

Ineed to get an IR blaster but for the meantime I am trying out three recording with Sage TV tonight, all on different quality settings.

As for the Live TV playing, the picture seems alittle dark at different resolutions. Sicne the tv is 64" wide I am having a hard time finding the best setting for TV watching and another for using windows. I tried to get my wife set up on party poker. Their window doesn't resize itself and drops well below the window. I will continue to try different resolutions until I find the best for my preference.

Any suggestions on the picture color and darkerness adjustments would be appreciated. Also I tightened the RGB connector as I just had it plugged in not screwed down and someomne made a suggestion about the integrity of the contacts. I will look for a better cable this week.

I also plan to burn the shows I am recording tonight to CD. I put an NEC 8x DVD +- in the HTPC. Software suggestions anyone?

Thanks again...Marc

the general sagetv area has some great info on burning software. for the ultimate chore of burning then a late version of nero 5 or any nero 6 should be good.

for editing the mpeg's the see the general forum recommendations as it depends on what you want to do really.
