HD200 PlayOn Hulu Problems

I have been searching forever and tried everything to get my HD200 to play Hulu video via PlayOn server. It worked great for quite a while, and I can't figure out exactly when it quit on me. I can't find anyone having similar problems.

When I browse the PlayOn via uPNP, everything shows up as you would expect. I can watch other things outside of Hulu via PlayOn.

I have tried installing 3 different versions of PlayOn on 3 different computers on my network, shutting off one before trying the other. I have tried Windows 2000, XP, and Vista. I have tried all firmware versions on the HD200 back to 1230. I connected the HD200 to a different switch port with different network cable on a different TV. I have disconnected all other devices on my network, disabled QOS and firewalls on my router, made sure no firewalls are running on any machines, and so on. I also followed the procedures to load firmware from USB to reset it, which didn't work either.

When I go to play a Hulu video, I click on the one I want to watch and it just sits there spinning the circle or showing the green bar (depending on firmware.) I opened a ticket with PlayOn who replied with:

The log files show the device requesting ranges of the file that do not exist...over and over and over again. Since the Sage is not an officially supported device, we don't know what would cause it to behave that way, unfortunately.

The HD200 works in all other ways as expected. SageTV plays fine on it and everything else. I just can't figure it out! It worked great for awhile and I haven't changed anything anywhere and now it doesn't work.

I found some errors by digging into box via telnet and looking at the sagetv_0.txt log file. It has several of these:

[AsyncWatch] FORMATERROR UNABLE TO PARSE FILE TYPE FOR FILE-1: /var/upnp/PlayOn (LoftVista)/Hulu/Highest Rated Videos/Dollhouse: Grey Hour (s1|e4) (Star Rating:4.6_5.0) - Echo.s stint as a midwife..mpg

The filename is longer than that, but is the title and description of the show I was trying to play. I can play lots of other things like CNN, etc but not Hulu. What could cause this?

Well now I even went and tried two different routers, rebooted all of my switches, changed out cables, reinstalled several versions and got nothing. The only thing I can think of is somehow the HD-200 is defective. Too bad none of this is supported, so I am the only person in the entire world who can't watch Hulu through the HD-200 after having been able to do so for months. Nothing has been more frustrating!

I just pulled the trigger on an HD200. Been using SageTV for toooo long to think this was not an isolated incident.

I downloaded the latest PlayOn server version 2.59.3370 and everything is working again! I was running .3359 or something like that before and it would not work. Even going back to old versions did nothing.

The HD-200 is a great device even without PlayOn and Hulu!

I don't know why, but it works now with the latest PlayOn. I am very happy, because I was killing myself trying to get it to work.

I noticed over on the PlayOn forums that people were having lots of problems with the update before .3370. Maybe they found something and fixed it, who knows. I like to think I found a "bug" but since they blew me off when I told them I was a Sage HD-200 user, tough.

One person had to delete their username and password from the Hulu account settings. I went ahead and removed my Hulu user ID and password and restarted everything. Maybe that is what ended up fixing it. So if anyone else has problems playing Hulu through the HD-200, I would recommend first deleting your user ID and password from the account settings first, then upgrading to the latest.
