HD-PVR recordings freezing periodically...help!

I have been struggling with this since I got my PVR. I have a windows 2003 server running the latest Sage beta and HD-PVR drivers 1.0.5.3.

I'll be watching a recorded HD show and it will freeze for about 2 seconds then it will come back. Sometimes when it comes back the video is running like in slow motion. Then I have to stop playing it and start playing it again to clear it up.

I've been searching the forums for help, but just can't find any.

Has anyone found a solution or have any ideas on what I can do to figure this out?

thanks

Is the video being recorded locally to the 2003 server? Are you watching through extenders? If you are, you may have network problems. When I had issues like this, it was problems with network cards or linksys switches etc...

How's your hard drive activity during these occurrences? I generally have seen this when my hard drives are thrashing like crazy. You might want to check something like process explorer to see if something is taking up I/O bandwidth or CPU bandwidth. I see you have a 3TB RAID array... how many drives are involved and at what speed? I'm assuming the Promise chip is an onboard one, not an add-in card, right? Just trying to consider if it's a hardware RAID versus software RAID issue.

If you really want to isolate your drives and rule the drive bandwidth out as an issue, try exclusively recording to a single, large drive and see if things improve.

If you rewind, does the problem happen always in the same spot, or just at random times?

I have watched it localy on the server and it happens there too. It also happens if I rewind it. There are 7 - 750gb 7200rpm drives in the array now, and I'm using a separate promise raid card. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's tough to troubleshoot.

Thanks
