MVP Last (?) Stab
After a period of working more or less properly, the Media MVP cannot find the streaming server - again. The error log :
Error: w/SageTV client connection:java.net.SocketException: socket closed This line repeats a bunch of times. What does this mean, and how do I "open" the socket? I also see a line: Error creating server socket:java..net.SocketException: Network is down : Listen failed I'm running Sage 6.3.10 Media MVP rev 2.05 ver 1.38 Extender is enabled in setup The MVP is wired into a Linksys WRT54G v8.0 and the network recognizes both the HTPC and the MVP. Any ideas? Will installing DD-WRT cure this? Last edited by Ronno6; 03-12-2009 at 10:46 AM. |

i posted this else where but
did ja fix this? If not you might test by turning off your firewall(s). (For safety you might want to physically disconnect your router from the cable/dsl modem while you do this.) You might check to see if the router is open to all ports and not filtering. check the router firewall too, if it has one. |

Thanks, Vern. the firewall is always off, dangerous though that may be. I haven't changed any settings, but there was an incident over the weekend. Sage just shut down for a reason that I am not aware. I had to reboot the computer to get Sage to open, but I got a message saying that the application had been changed. It asked permission to access the internet, and when I allowed that, Sage started up then shut down. I had to reboot-again- and this time mu registration key was absent from Sage. I reentered, and all works as before except the MVP. I checked the Extender license key, which was still in place. I deleted and reentered anyway, but no progress. So I enabled the logs, and the socket problems are what show.

Hmmm, Good question. I'm not all that computer literate, but I do show the windows firewall turned off. Windows firewall IS off, but "Active Armor Firewall" is ON! What the heck is that?? Lemme turn it off, and we'll see what happens.
I TRIED, but can't seem to find a way to turn that off! The Active Armor Firewall is an nVivdia thing, and though I've tried to turn it off, it STILL shows as "on" in the Security Center. (And, the MVP still does not work.) H E L P !!!!! Last edited by Ronno6; 03-12-2009 at 03:46 PM. |

Well, it looks like, after several different recommended ways of disabling the nVidia Activearmor Firewall, I got it turned off (even though it STILL shows as "on" in the security center."
The MVP is happy again-for now. We'll see how long one lasts. Thanks for the help, y'all. |
