Setting up Sage on my WHS
Good morning.
I'm going to run SageTV on my WHS. What I plan on doing while waiting for my HD Theater is to get Sage up and looking the way I'd like it. I plan on running the Client software on my PC with the SageMC skin and the Movie Info Screen add-in for FanArt. I'm going to save all my FanArt on my server. My main question is, when I make all the mods and get Sage looking the way I want through the Client software, what file(s) do I need to move to my server (and in which Sage directory do I put them on the server) to get the same "look" on my HD Theater. Thanks for the help. |

That's a little hairy.
1: Install the latest version of SageMC and each plugin like Movie Info Screen etc.., and themes on the server first. 2: Back up the sageclient.properties, and copy it over to the server. 3: Move the sageclient.properties file into the clients folder under the SageTV folder. Then rename the sageclient.properties file to be [MAC Address].client in that folder for the extender. So example: 00505ec0000e.properties Hope that helps.

I've been trying to do the work right from my server, however, some things aren't working correctly (i.e., the coverart coming in IMDB won't overwrite the thumbnail.... it does initially, but then doesn't hold).
Can I do all this set up from the server? Also do I need to have the SageMC skin and Movie Info on my PC also.. do all the work from there then move it, or will the client software on the PC pic this up from the server software? Hope I'm making sense.... Thanks. |

A client PC will take the IMDB images from your local hard drive and not the server, thats unless you are talking about imported mesia and all your media images are located on the same drive.
An extender will take all your images from the server. So if you were to setup your client pc first and get all the images you want inside your IMDB folder then just copy them to server's IMDB folder when you get your extender. However in saying all that, it's proberly best to have all your imported media and associated images all located on a shared drive on WHS.
