new mac mini

http://www.apple.com/macmini/

$599 - better video, same footprint.

great specs (and size) for a client, could probably handle being a server as well, with network tuners and recording to a NAS.....

It does look cool. My concerns are the need for a min-dvi to hdmi adapter and whether or not USB/FW800 external drives will be adequate for HD/BR playback.

FW800 can handle 63 devices, with a bandwidth of 100 MB/s

FW has none of the limitations of USB, and delivers much much better on theoretical throughputs.

Blu ray has a max throughput of 5 MB/s
OTA HD has a max throughput of 2.5 MB/s
SD DVD has a max through put of 1.25 MB/s

FW800 can theoretically handle:
20 Blu ray streams
40 OTA HD streams
80 SD DVD streams
