AM Radio mlb via sage/orb- so simple i'm stupid

Just posting this in case anyone else should some along searching for an idea. I am in Cincinnati, and the Reds are only on AM radio or streaming via mlb.com. I apparently work inside of a concrete bunker, so no radio. Corporate IT stops mlb streaming (how dare those bastards insist that I work??), and I haven't seen any way to stream to my phone. Perfectly willing to pay mlb, but they don;t want my money unless I am using a computer.

I have spent most of the last few years' spring trainings trying to figure out workarounds, including buying some super radio from the 70s that is supposed to be able to receive radio sigals underground inside of a lead box (It didn't).

Finally occurred to me that all I have to do is hook up the headphone out jack of any crappy radio (it is just AM after all) to the audio in of my pvr150 and set up a manual channel in either sage or orb, and I have what I want wherever I want as long as I remember to turn on the radio that day

So your company blocks internet streaming and you can't get radio signals, but you can use Sage (presumably through the webserver)? Lucky dog. My company has all ports blocked and I can't access my webserver. I was going to use it for the first two days of March Madness last year, and Reds Opening Day. No dice.

What you are doing sounds very similar to the "Netflix/Pandora Hack". Except the radio control is very, uh, manual.

Sorry, I was unclear. Company blocks anything that is fun/useful. Meant to say that I can stream to my phone via orb at work, but can use placeshifter for the same thing anywhere else. Main point of my post was how easy it is to get any analog signal placeshifted anywhere once brain is removed from posterior. Since you're in the area, you are probably aware that Marty/Tom/Jeff beat George/Chris any day, hence the need for AM radio.

BTW, i owe you a reply to our pm's about local ota channels. Silly life/kids/economic meltdown got in the way of my incessant sage tweaking.

You might be able to listen to the AM radio station on a delayed basis. Record the stream at home with "Total Recorder Professional Edition" http://www.highcriteria.com/ or some other program. After you record a certain amount of time, such as 60 minutes some other time, have the program create a file. If FTP is open on port 21, or some non-standard port, you can transfer the files with FTP, then listen to the recorded files. If you don't have an FTP server, "Bulletproof FTP Server" works great, and has free unlimited upgrades, http://www.bpftpserver.com/.

"Total Recorder Professional Edition" is a good choice since it can record any sound stream. The program uses a virtual sound driver that steps between the stream and your physical sound driver. So, the program can record any audio stream. They also have a video plug-in. The program also has a web interface and a scheduler built-in. The program can also detect if the stream audio quits, and automatically resets the streaming connection to the web site. The program has a free trial, to purchase is only $35.95, and unlimited free upgrades. The "Professional" addition is more expensive than the "Standard" edition, but has many nice features, like the integrated web browser to schedule streaming. You can also use the program to edit audio recordings. The only downside to the program was a bad interaction with Skype in a previous version, but that problem has been resolved. I have been using Total Recorder Professional for many years, and highly recommend it.
