Channel Changing Question with HD-PVR

I am rather new to SageTv and HD-PVR.

I have a 12 TB WHS in the basement (concrete floor) running sageTV and I want to connect a HD-PVR box to the server. I have 4 HD-200's and 2 PC clients connected to a Gigabit Ethernet.

I also have a Satellite Receiver (directTV) which will provide the input for the HD-PVR. I can get the Satellite coax input to reach the receiver and thus the HD-PVR and server. The IR Blaster from the HD-PVR will also reach the receiver, however how alterable is the channel changing command location?

What I mean is can I use sageTV through the extenders to change the channel from any of the extenders or PC clients throughout the house? If so how do I do this? From what I have read everybody is using the HD-PVR remote to control to the channels, but this is not an option for me because of the concrete floor.

Any help would be appreciated!

The HD-200 extenders and PC clients control the Sage Media Center SW running on the server.

The Sage Media Center SW on the server then controls the HD-PVR and the sat box.

exactly....I'd like to through in that since you have DirecTV, you could use a USB-serial adapter or two to control the box instead of IR.

If any client (HD200 or PC) is watching LiveTV, keep in mind you only have one tuner so you'd only be able to watch the same channel on another client. Of course, you could watch any other media as well independantly.

Or you could use multiple HD PVRs.

Thanks for the answer...

So when I am installing everything is this the correct order.

1. WHS, add drives to the pool, 64K clusters, etc.
2. SageTV, any extras
3. HD-PVR
4. Connect extenders, clients.

Also so is the sageTV SW controll of the channels through the USB connection to the HD-PVR and the HD-PVR's control of the receiver is through the IR blaster?

Thanks..

Almost, Sage controls both the HD-PVR and the IR blaster. It sends channel changes to the receiver via the IR blaster and then turns on the video recording functions in the HD-PVR.
