Problem: smb share for import folder

Hi,

My testing did advance rather nicely, but I did encounter one problem...

I did move all my movies to my WinXP 64 bit PC and did a simple file share one the containing folder. (even went so fare as to enable read/write for anyone)

I am able to play back these movies from the sagetv server using for example mplayer. If I use sagetv and browse to the network location, I'm also able to play back these movies within sagetv. So far, so good...

But if I map this folder for video import, it does not work...? when browsing the imported folders, I can see the folder, but it got a big X on the folder icon, and no way to play it :-(


About the config:
Recent version, running as service on WinXP Pro SP3, Hauppauge PVR-350

Are you running the Sage Server as a Service? If you are you need to have it run under an Id that has rights to the share.

And you need to use a UNC path. Mapping a drive isn't going to work.

And the account you use to run the service must have a password.

Thanks guys... I did suppose that the service was running under the account it was installed, my bad
Once changed to the named account as suggested, it works like a charm

But could someone explain to me, why it does work if browsing the network, but not if using the UNC path mapped as import folder ???

Becaue you're not using the correct UNC naming? Don't know unless you give us an example. UNC is \\servername\sharename\directory. If you're not sure what it should be browse the network from Windows and consult the address bar in the Network window. Click in the address bar to get the UNC path.
