Best Decoder with PVR 250 ?
Hello Folks,
Last night I was able to install a second PVR 250 and use it with SageTV. Can anyone provide me with advice on which decoder to use with the PVR 250? I have the one that comes with the WinTV card (Intervideo I think), Sonic Cineplayer 1.5, and the latest Elecard decoders installed. I would also appreciate info on recommended settings for deinterlacing, etc. Thanks, Steve |

I use the Intervideo Decoder that came through the latest update from Hauppauge. I then made the changes posted on this link and so far it has produced the best results.

My favorite so far is the Ravisent Cinemaster filters that come with the ATI dvd player. I'm using version 7.6, before ATI switched over to Cyberlink filters.
To my eyes, the ravisent filter provides just a touch better picture than the Intervideo ones do, but far and above both of them look much better than the Cyberlink filters. |

You like the Ravisent filters better than Elecard Dscalers?? Have any of you guys compared these to the Cineplayer 1.5 filters? According to people at avs, these seem to be the consensus for dvd playback...
Where can I obtain these filters? I would like to try them out. I get a decent pic with Elecard Dscaler>two frame...

Personally, on my setup, I prefer the ravisent cineplayer 7.6 filters better than the sonic cineplayer 1.5 ones - the sonic filters result in a much grainier picture for me, and I don't have the horsepower to run ffdshow. As far as comparing the ravisent filters with the elcard filters, I haven't spent enough time with the elcard filters to say for sure.
The ravisent filters were included in older versions of the ATI dvd player, version 7.6. You have to have an ATI card to use them, I believe. |
