Compressing HD-PVR 1080i files
Seems like the latest beta's and I guess now the Released 6.5 version are supposed to support transcoding of the HD-PVR h264 files.
I've tried this on a few of my HD-PVR recordings - all of which are at 1080i - and while the process completes, the resulting media file isn't watchable. It kind of plays, but it stutters terribly and the audio cuts in and out constantly. Plus the % complete that is listed as it is converted goes up to almost 300% or a little more before the process actually completes. Are these known issues? I saw a thread that indicates 720p HD-PVR files work OK, which is not a route I can go - and I've got lots of nice widescreen HD 1080i recorded cartoons that look just as good at 480p, and I need to free up some space! btl.
