Frustrated... Can't control Motorola DCT2224. Help?

I'm trying to set up Sage to control my cable box with a USB-UIRT or serial connection. I'd prefer the latter, since it's faster and more reliable. I've tried various plugins, updated drivers etc. with no luck. Instead of going through all that, can some kind soul give me step-by-step instructions? Then I'll follow them and tell you where things go bonkers.

Okay, I figured out the problem.

- I installed the new USB-UIRT drivers (latestAPIDriver)
- I installed the uu_irsage_1001 plugin
- Since I couldn't program the IR (see another post on this bug) I used the "digitalbox" .ir file that some helpful person posted.

The problem was that I thought Sage would send a discrete "Power On" code to my STB then change the channels. Instead I found that it assumes the STB is always on...

By the way, the USB-UIRT will only cause Windows to load drivers the first time you plug it into a USB port. After that you'll get no indication that Windows recognized the device. You can verify that it's there with device manager.

I hope this helps someone...
