Question SageTV blocked in nonexisting recording

Hi,

I'm currently testing SageTV in search for a DVR that fits my needs. Everything looked great since 3 days ago where I started a manual recording at sleeping time. The day after, no longer any liveTV. Ok, I thougt the recording is still running, checked, but no... If starting liveTV, I only have a black screen. On menu, I do get randomly an "R" on red ground, but it disappears as randomly as it pops up.
By now, I did delete any recorded shows, did reconfigure SageTV, even uninstalled and reinstalled SageTV with still the same result.
Video playback still works, it's just liveTV. Same happens on server as on clients.

In order to prove that my hardware is still working, I did try SnapTV which I already dismissed in favor for this solution.... Well SnapTV still works :-(

Any help would be welcome

Marco

Is there any way to really reset SnapTV configuration, so that I might at least try something before he, who knows, finds the time to provide me with the solution? ;-)

Thanks

It might help someone offer a suggestion if you mentioned what tuner card you are using, how it is connected, what OS, etc.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

You're correct I missed that information, thought I did

Well the tuner is an internal Hauppauge PVR-350, connected to a cable provider for TV signal, and directly connected to a TV using the Hauppauge card video out. It's setup NOT to display the menues on the TV, due to those blocking issues with these cards.
The same screen is seen on a monitor, where I can see the menues. Although that's double screening, remember, I'm still in testing the product ;-)

The OS is Windows XP Pro SP3 (english), SageTV is recent english version.

If I missed any more relevant information, just ask...

You'll probably have better luck with the PVR350 if you don't coonect it to the TV and connect your computer;s video card out to the TV. The PVR350 had been problematic in the past.

Well, it did work like that in the beginning, but now as written in the entry post, it doesn't work any longer :-(

As I said I'm just testing, and when it started to be blocked in this issue, I was using a client, thus no PVR-350 output... By that I deduce that it's not a 350 issue.

On the other side, I would LOVE to use an alternative method to connect the TV, but the TV is aged, only got SCART input, the motherboard (integrated graphic card) only got HMDI output... Thus during testing I only got the option to use the Hauppauge video output, or use the clients....

Waiting for the next ideas

Thumbs up Problem solved...

... by support

The solution was that easy as:
Quote:
Go to Detailed Settings > Multimedia and change your video recording quality to Fair or above. Change it to any quality that says DVD/MPEG2.
Guess it's due to the 350 using an internal MPEG engine...
