Fanart - MediaBackground folders
I have my Fanart located in c:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\MediaBackgrounds
Within this folder I have separate Movies, Music and TV folder. However if I record a movie on TV that has a jpg file in the Movies folder it does not use this. Is this the correct behaviour? (For example I recorded The Shining on TV. There is a jpeg for The Shining, with the correct filename in MediaBackgrounds\Movies but it is not used unless I move the file to the MediaBackground folder itself) If it is then why use separate folders for different types of media? Wouldn't I be better off to just put everything in MediaBackgrounds so that it could be used by Movies, TV, etc?

You are describing the behavior as it is intended. If you want any background files shared between Movies and TV, you should put them in the parent (MediaBackgrounds) folder. There are also situations where a TV series and a movie may have the same name, but should have different backgrounds. The current behavior is intended to provide the flexibility to deal with either situation.

I believe the way this currently works is that it first checks the main folder for a matching background (Regardless of whether it is TV music, movie). If it doesn't find a match, it looks in the sub-folders. The Music folder is used for Music (obviously). The TV folder is used for Sage Recordings. The Movies folder is used for Imported Movies (DVD rips and other video files).
The problem is that Movies that are recorded by Sage via a TV Tuner are considered TV shows. I recently created a Fan Art STVi for the default Sage STV after being inspired by what the FanArt support I saw here for SageMC. In my code, I put in a work-around for this problem: I check the Genre (Category) for TV recordings and if it is "Movie", I look in the Movies folder for fanart. Perhaps the SageMC authors could take a similar approach?

What Tiki is suggesting makes a lot more sense since much of what many people record are movies. I understand the situation where a movie and TV show can have the same title and be different (M*A*S*H to use an old example of a movie that later became a TV show where you would likely want different Fanart) but doesn't SageMC know that it is a movie from the genre? Therefore if Genre=Movie then SageMC should be looking in the Movies folder rather than the TV folder.
