Harmony Remote

Has anyone gotten a Harmony remote to work with a Mac using the built-in IR? I am just curious if this is an option.

Using the Harmony 880 remote with your mac’s built-in IR port

Plex

Plex has Harmony support built in and uses the IR. I was hoping SageTV could also do this...

There is no such thing as Harmony support. Harmony is the remote and is a learning remote. It will work with just about any IR receiver. The support you're looking for is for Sage to natively support the IR on a Mac.

Actually what happened was similar to the guy above pointed out. The Plex folks use 12 or so Apple Remote IDs and the Apple Remote IR to receive a ton of unique IR codes. They set these up in Plex then worked with Logitech. If you have a Harmony Remote, you can actually add a Plex device. Then in Plex all you have to do is switch the remote option from Apple Remote to Harmony Remote. I was hoping Sage could do something similar...otherwise I'll be using Remote Buddy to achieve it.

But does the Sage application support the Apple IR receiver? I don't think so. Plex DOES support the Apple IR receiver. That's why that will work with Plex and NOT work with Sage. It has nothing to do with the remote-it has to do with the receiver.

i'm working at getting remote buddy setup.... i got sick of using my harmony with only 17 possible buttons (using a keyspan u-11f blah blah blah receiver..)

it is a bear, but whatever, i hope it works.

basic premise is that remote buddy picks up the ir signal, and then sends a keystroke directly to the application. works good so far, but i need to trouble shoot a couple of commands, as i think the harmony might not have learned them correctly...
