Several recordings start at 5:02 into the show
I am having something weird with my new Sage 6.48 server with the Haupague 2250 QAM tuner (as well as a couple of HDPVRs, but this probklem is exclusive to shows on the 2250). It appears to record wonderfully, but several shows start at 5:02 into the show, and EXACTLY 5:02 on each one effected. What it is is that the first 5:01 are 'redded out' similar to when you 'watch live TV' and the part before you started watching is red and you can't reverse to it. Another interesting thing is that most (perhaps all?) of these don't get marked as watched after I watch them. so if I run through 10 episodes of COPS and 4 of them had this problem, when I get done and select delete all it says 'delete 6 watched?' if I go back and look at them, everything that I watched is white (except the part that was always red), indicating that it's been watched.
Any idea where I might want to look to troubleshoot? thanks as always!! |

First, update to v6.5. You may also need to try the property change in this FAQ:
My recordings are missing the first 5 minutes. How do I fix that? - Andy

Thanks Andy, I just did the 6.59 upgrade. Should I let it go and see if that handles it before I make any other changes, or just go ahead and try the other 'patches' as well?
Also, where can I see signal strength? I know I saw it during channel setup or somewhere like that, but is it possible to check it on the fly? What do we do if I find a weak signal? Now that I think of it, I did see some channels that I tuned to during setup that showed no signal, and then I'd exit out of that channel and tune back to it and it had full signal strength. That mean anything to you? Thanks much! |

The error sounds like it could fit either situation where the recording failed to start for some reason (change the property mentioned in the FAQ) or the signal strength is borderline for the tuner, in which case maybe the coax has been split too many times & an amp is needed. There are probably other reasons, but I would start with those. - Andy

Thanks again Andy, is there any particular type of Amp I would need if it's low? I've got the main line into the house split out to 4 STBs, 2 TVs (one more in the future) and this tuner, so I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a bad idea when I get the finalized wiring, even though it looked like all the signals were 100% when I was setting it up... Any downside to amplification?
