2 different sources and listings

Is anybody using multiple tuners with different providers? I have a pvr350 using DTV and a pvrusb2 using standard cable. When I go to the listings, it's always set to the DTV listings. Is there anyway to tell each tuner which set of listings to use or is the process arbitrary? The USB2 sometimes tries to record from the satellite listings which obviously isn't possible. Can two different listings co-exist or should I look into another sat receiver? Am I missing something easy?? Thanks!

You should be able to have a different provider for each card with no problem. When you went into setup in SageTV did you specify a different provider at that time? If not, I suggest you remove and readd the tuner that does not have the correct provider information. I don't know what SageTV will do if there is a conflict with channel numbers between the two providers. You may have to remap conflicting channels.

I use 3 different providers but have no channel conflicts. I have standard cable going to both of my 250's and 1 other provider to each of them.

Thanks for your help. Is there a way to set one pvr up as the primary? As of now, the USB seems to be the primary. I would rather my 350 with DTV be the primary pvr. Is it easier to switch inputs and put my DTV on the usb2? Or is there a simple way to switch around which pvr is SAGE 1 and which is SAGE 2?

Yes you can specify the primary by using the merit property. It may take a bit of trial and error to get it right. I just set the merit of one of my tuners to 5. Then I forced a record if it went to the wrong tuner, I set the other tuner merit to 10 and retested until I got what I wanted.

be sure to exit SageTV before editing the properties file.

here is the actual line from my properties file.
mmc/encoders/1642691032/encoder_merit=10

That's a HUGE help, thank you! I think I'm showing 3 tuners in my properties. At one time I attempted to install a pvr250 (16) but it didn't like the 350 so I took it out. It looks like it's still in the properties. Here's what it looks like:

mmc/encoders/133509170/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder
mmc/encoders/133509170/encoder_merit=0

mmc/encoders/1642691032/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
mmc/encoders/1642691032/encoder_merit=0

mmc/encoders/551195575/video_capture_device_name=Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture
mmc/encoders/551195575/encoder_merit=0

I can easily see the usb2 but the 350 and the remains of the 250 look very similar. Can you tell me which one of the remaining 2 is my 350? I'm thinking the 350 is the 551195575.

Also, how do merits work? Does a higher number make the pvr the primary? Would a setting of 10 make it the primary or would a 5?

Thanks again, you've been a great help!

I believe sageTV tries to use the highest available merit first when recording.
I would agree that 551195575 is probably the 350. If you remove the wrong one, you would just have to re-add the tuner.
You are welcome.

Is there one listed after:

mmc/ignore_encoders=

I would remove that one, since it should refer to the one you took out of the system.

I never saw the mmc/ignore_encoders= set when I removed a card. I believe it is only set if some type of error is encountered which I saw 1 time.

I used 10 for the primary and 5 for the secondary pvr. It works great. Thanks again.
