EVR and increased CPU usage
Should I be seeing a jump in CPU usage from about 20% with VMR9 to 40% with EVR? I make no other changes other than switch back and forth from one to the other and I see this doubling in CPU usage.

Are you running on XP? If so then yes. EVR mode in XP is basically emulation. It will only increase performance in Vista / Windows 7.

What are you using for video decoder? I know nVidia Purevideo does not support EVR and would assume several others do not as well. While I think they "work", you lose hardware accelleration.

I'm using AVIVO with HD3300 onboard.

I might be missing something, but from what I can find it looks like AVIVO does not support hardware acceleration with EVR, only VMR9. Of course ATI's website doesn't really provide much information so this is based off reviews and user comments.

Anyone have a list of codecs supporting EVR and have a recommendation to a good one?

http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...roup_id=170561 I believe Media Player's Classic stand alone filter allows acceleration. You may have to use graphedit to go to its properties to enable it however.

I got this reply to my original question in another forum. What do you think about what he's saying?
"In DirectShow, filters are independent so video decoder does not know anything about renderer used. It simply output video data to output pin. So I think nothing like "codec" supporting EVR exists..."
