PCI SATA Controller

Anyone using these? One of the SATA ports on my motherboard will just not hold onto the cable and keeps dropping the drive. I've tried cables with clips and hot melt glue to hold the cables in place. No good. In looking for a solution other than a re-build, I found these PCI SATA controllers. I am curious if anyone has had any problems or if they think they are great.

Thanks

I'm looking at the Addonics ones, as they seem to have a little better support and revies, but haven't bought any yet. Will be ordering soon.

lakeman,

Someone else was asking about PCI SATA boards in another thread. He and I went back & forth a few times and this is my reply to him with links and explinations of my reasoning.

Good luck,

I have added 4 ports on my Linux server using this card

http://www.promise.com/product/produ...product_id=139

and it works like a charn. You can find it for about $50 so it is not a bad deal.
