Direct TV usb

I have switched computer and cannot get my usb adapter (patersontechnology) to see my direct tv receiver.

I plugged the serial adapter into my usb on the computer and it show up in device manager with com port 4. I then unplug the usb from the computer and plug it into the directv box and it is gone from device manager.

It was working fine on the old computer, but I cannot figure out how to get it going on the new computer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Kyle Denise

You may need to restate your problem because it sounds like form the post that the cord is no longer attached to the computer which I assume is not the case.

Do you have two USB ends or one USB and one serial. What is plugged into what?

yep, that's important, which end is plugged into what. if I need to program the Paterson it goes one way, but in actual use driving the DirecTV box, the opposite. Make sure your port speeds are the same on the Paterson device (via its software) and in the device manager as well.
