high bandwidth with hdhr & sagetv
i've downloaded the latest hdhr software and sagetv. when viewing a channel from vlc via the hdhr software, i'm getting 10-15 mbps of bandwidth per tuner. but when using sagetv, the bandwidth spikes to 30 mbps and stays there eventhough i'm viewing the same channel as i was with vlc. any suggestions? thanks.

What version of SageTV and the HDHR drivers are you using? At one point, the entire stream for a channel was sent from the HDHR then SageTV saved only the subchannel being recorded, but with the latest HDHR & SageTV software, that shouldn't be the case -- only what is being recorded shoudl be sent from the HDHR.

I had the same problem with HDHR QAM and 6.4.8. When I upgraded to the latest Sage beta, it fixed the problem.

good to know. thanks! are there any major issues with the latest beta? i'm just evaluating sagetv right now and trying to gauge any WAF issues that would keep me from replacing our directivos with it.

The current "beta" is actually a release candidate and will most likely be actual 6.5 release any day now, so no there is no problems with downloading the current "beta".

I just built a WHS server and has installed 6.4.8 and was surprised to see the high bandwidth from the HDHR's. Found this thread and installed 6.5.8 and bandwidth is back to normal.
