Issue when loading SageMC

I've updated my SageTV from 6.0.x to the most current (non beta) version (6.4).

I updated Java to 1.6

I downloaded the newest SageMC (non beta - 6.3.8a)

SageTV works fine. When I load SageMC using the SageMC_169.xml from the advanced menu in SageTV it loads with no errors. But the screens are all Black and White. The cursor is green, as it should be. It doesnt matter which theme I select, it's Black and White. Everything seems to work, it just looks awful. Any ideas?

edit: I uninstalled SageTV from the add/remove programs before doing the new install. And as I said, SageTV itself seems to work flawlessly.

Make sure you installed the full installation package (~20MB) and not just the update package. After you install the files, you have to restart SageTV so that the new JAR files get loaded.

Aloha,
Mike

Just triple checked to make sure and yes, I used the full version. I had already stopped/restarted SageTV and even rebooted the computer. I see a zip file in the full installation called sagemc_java_15_jars.zip that has a newer version of sagemc.jar in it. Am I supposed to do anything with that? Also, if it makes a difference; The icons (such as the video camera when you are have "My Videos" selected) are colored correctly. It's just the menu and background that is messed up.

Do you have a ...\SageTV\net folder? If so, delete it and restart sage. (And don't worry about that zip file. It's for Mac users.)

I had one earlier but I saw a post about that and deleted it. As far as I could tell it did not change anything.

Try loading the latest pre-release in the sticky at the top of the forum. There was a background problem bug that was fixed at some point. You might be affected.

Thanks, I'll go give that a try.

Also, I still have Sage in the old C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies\SageTV path if that could possibly make a difference. (I did unpack SageMC into the correct path though, I believe, since it seems to work in general).

Ok.. now this is complicated.

I installed SageTV again and made it a fresh install in a new folder and did not copy my wiz.bak, etc files over to it. I then installed SageMC and it works fine.

Not only did SageMC work, but my 3rd tuner that hasn't worked in SageTV for over a year has shown back up. This is all great, but I don't want to lose my "Wiz.bin" "Wiz.bak" "Sage.properties" files. I've had SageTV for years and I like having my show information. I have tons of shows currently recorded too. I tried just copying those files to the new location, but that broke everything again. I'm back to Black and White SageMC and 2 tuners.

Hoping someone has a clue of what I need to do.

Just copy over your wiz.bin file to recover your recording history and recording data. I would go though and set everything back up from scratch rather than copying back in your old .properties file.

Awesome! I'm up and running again and SageMC looks as beautiful as ever. Now I just have to get all my personalized settings back and get video editing, comskip, movie listings, etc back.

Thank you very much for your help
