VMR Hardware Usage?
When I playback a SD recorded show using overlay my CPU utilization hovers around 4%, basically idle. When I playback the same file using VMR my CPU hovers at about 43%. Seems to me the hardware acceleration isn't working with the VMR. According to the nVidia filter, hardware acceleration is enabled though. Any ideas?
Thx

Here is the nVidia codec while playing back an MPEG2 source:
![]() Hardware acceleration is enabled and CPU is about 43%. Everything looks good, right?

It does. But I forget-what choices do you have for de-interlace control and can you turn that off and still get a good picture? But you know overlay will have the lowest utilization over any VMR hardware acceleration.

Quote:
VMR default VMR pixel adaptive *currently using VMR vertical stretch De-interlace Mode (Properties while opened in in GraphStudio - not playing back a file) Best Available Display Fields Separately Combine Fields De-interlace control: Automatic *currently using Film Video Smart I don't see a difference any chaning any of the control or mode for De-interlacing. I bounce back and forth betwen "Automatic" and "Smart" looking for a difference but never notice. Either way, I get the same CPU usage. I wouldn't mind overlay but probably 3 out of 5 times, the playback gets messed up in such that the video only shows where the top rectangle and bottom rectangle disappear/slides up/down from - the middle, main part of the screen stays black.
