HI Speed USB Device

Anyone get this error message after installing the HD PVR?

"HI Speed USB Device Attached To Non-HI speed HUB"?

This message showed up the next day after installing the HD PVR, and it was the first time I had ever seen the message.

I think all of the USB ports on my server are 2.0. I have the HD PVR attached to one of the main UBS ports attached to the motherboard in the rear of the server. I also made sure to attach it to one nothing else was attached to.

That message is telling you that your server doesn't have USB 2.0 ports.

You would think, but my server motherboard is a Gigabyte M55plus-S3G. The owners manual says that all the USB ports are "USB 2.0/1.1".

Are the USB drivers loaded correctly? What OS? At least Windows XP SP1 right?

Windows XP Pro SP3 with all updates. Again, this just started after installing the HD PVR. I checked the server a few minutes ago and the message was there again.

Check the BIOS to see if the USB ports are set to allow USB 2.0 speeds.

Thanks! good idea.
Sage is in heavy use today so I can't take it down and load the BIOS screen, but I did go thru the manual and I cannot find any setting which would allow the BIOS to either disable or enable USB 2.0 vs 1.1. I just updated the BIOS on Friday and I don't remember any such setting after the upgrade either.

Is there some way that windows can restrict USB ports to 1.1 speed?

If you have a USB flash stick or external disk, try plugging that into the port in question. If it's really a port speed issue, you should get a similar message. If you don't, that would tend to indicate it's an HD-PVR hardware or driver issue.

Attaching a USB flash drive does not cause the message to be displayed.

I think it has to do with the HD PVR. I remember a week or two ago seeing someone that was having trouble with their HD PVR post that they were getting this same message, but neither a cause or solution was posted.

When I went to my sage server a few minutes ago to try the usb flash drive and turned on my monitor the same USB message was there again.
