Setting up HDPVR
I have a C2 version of the Hauppauge HDPVR I have had since last July. Due to problems getting all my clients upgraded to be able to play h.264 video I am just now beginning to setup my HDPVR. I have finally gotten all my clients ready for h.264.
Question: I use a seperate dedicated sage server which is not used to watch programming. It has a monitor attached but this is just for maintenance on the PC and Sage. I will be attaching the HDPVR to this server. Is there any reason I need to install TME or TMT on this server? Can I just attach the HDPVR and boot the computer and when it asks for a driver point it to where I have the HDPVR driver 1.053 located? This computer is not powerful enough to run and watch a h.264 video file anyway (AMD 3800+ 6100 nvidia). If TME or TMT is used to somehow control the HDPVR I guess I will have to load them, but I wanted to find out in advance if they were actually needed. I will not be using the IR blaster. The HDPVR will be connected to a Directv H23 using a Patterson device to change channels.

You should not need TME in order to record. Just you preferred driver. Some people have had mixed success with the newest drivers.

I'm getting a HDPVR in the mail tomorrow. I'm running Vista x64. Is there a preferred driver anybody would recommend to get this thing to work fairly stable.

I have two HD-PVRs connected to my Sage server, which is running WHS, and I have not installed the TME software on the server, but I have on another PC running SageClient. In addition I have several extenders.

The Hauppauge driver package for the HD PVR includes two .cat files two .inf files and one .exe file. Since the instructions for installing the HDPVR say to turn off the computer connect the HDPVR then reboot before installing the driver, I assume the .exe file is only needed if you are upgrading a previous driver and if it is a new install you would just point the found new hardware wizard to the folder containing the 5 files above. Is this correct?
