Anti-Aliasing for HD playback on PC?

I have noticed that when I play HD content on my PC, I see some aliasing occurring.

Is there any way to to turn on anti-aliasing for SageTV? I am running WinXP SP2. I have an nVidia 8800 GTS SLI setup with CyberLink & PureVideo Decoders. I also have EVR enabled.

The STX-HD100 is perfect ... no aliasing at all.

This means EVR is not working properly for you on XP. Try to use VMR9 and see if that makes a difference. If not, try different version of driver.

Hi, cychou - I have the most recent nVidia drivers for my 8800 GTS SLI rig. I did not see a difference between VMR9 & EVR. Both showed aliasing artifacts and banding during HD playback.

If I force anti-aliasing on my PC (by manually setting the nVidia 3D Control Panel to use 16x anti-aliasing for all applications), the aliasing artifacts disappear. However, that limits the flexibility of my GPUs and system during gaming.

Is there something that I need to set (via the SageTV Setup GUI, or an entry in a .properties file) that can enable better anti-aliasing?

Latest driver is not necessarily the best for HTPC purpose. You can always add Sage.exe to Nvidia 3D Control Panel and customize setting specifically for Sage.
