SD1A is good. It is what Seagate currently ships on new hard drives, see this thread

SD1B is what is used to upgrade old hard drives. I think Seagate just upped the version number so they can distinguish the factory shipped from the ones flashed at home

You may be right, because my drive was flashed with SD1A. The thing is when they first started giving SD1A to people who emailed them it made a lot of the drives stop working. It got shared all over the net and people were upset because it broke their drives (I think maybe they were flashing the wrong size drives) Then they released another SD1A on their website a few days later that was the correct firmware to flash. I just confused it with SD1B because I wouldn't think they would keep the same firmware name since there was already an SD1A and there were a lot of problems with it.
