Problem playing DVD from Drive

I am having a problem playing DVDs from the DVD Drive. When I select 'Play DVD' from the main menu, I get a screen whose OSD says 'Aired 12/31 4 - 4' (See attached file DVD.jpg).

My setup information is included as setup.jpg

I am running 2.13. I deleted wiz.bin and sage.properties in the hopes that this errant file/pointer/??? would disappear; I was wrong.

Any ideas?

Michael

Did you setup the DVD drive in Detailed Setup -> DVD?

In detailed setup I can only say 'yes' or 'no' to DVDROM. No longer can I select the drive letter of my device.

Is there an entry in sage.properties?

I have the same problem, and when the osd disappears you still get a black outline.

Fixed it. Here is what I did:

Upgrade to latest Java runtime;
Uninstall SagetV 2.0.13;
Delete Frey Technologies directory;
Reinstall SageTV

I followed the directions in the post.
Verified latest Java
Removed SageTV
Removed Directory
Reinstalled SageTV

Still same problem when trying to play a DVD through SageTV - Blank screen, :Aired 4:00" Message etc.

Am I missing something here.
PS DVDROM in setup is set to YES.

Okay, in going over the steps, I do remember that I rebooted after uninstalling SageTV from Add/Remove programs. Make sure SageTV folder is GONE - nothing, nada. I assume that by deleting folder, the removal of wiz.bin and sage.properties was of utmost importance. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.

No change

Same thing. Rebooted after deinstall. Verified no wiz.bin or sage.properties or any Frey directory. I do get a message if I press the OK button on the remote once I receive the blank screen. See attached.

I am getting more messages about copy protection as well on subsequent tries. Are there windows copy protections setting that I need to turn off?

What video decoder are you using? If you're trying to use the Hauppague decoders that come with the PVR 250 those won't work on DVD's because DVD's are encrypted. You need to use decoders installed like WinDVD or PowerDVD and choose them. Don't use defualt either.

Selected Cyberlink still nothing

I have PowerDVD installed on my machine.
There are two places in setup to change the decoder filter. One in the Video section and one in the DVD section. I changed both to "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder" and still nothing. Am I in the right spot?

Wait, I just restarted Sage and when I slelect Play DVD I get a new window titled "ActiveMovie Window". Is this how this is suppose to work? Because the remote does not work to control the movie in this window. I cannot even select "Play Movie" with the Keyboad or mouse.

The only one you're concerned with is in the DVD section. The other section is for TV and viewing recorded shows. It should work. Mine works with both NVDVD and WinDVD decoders. And you are using beta .13? For PowerDVD make sure you're using Overlay which is in the Video section. Are you getting any sound? Do you see the DVD-Rom access light flicker when trying to play?

Yes Beta .13

Ok, getting somewhere. Did not have overlay set in Video. Changed to overlay and tried again this time I got a error message in the DVD screen.

MPEG-video error in playback. Details:

Failed connecting video stream to the Overlay Mixer
Error Code=80040217

In the past I had to press "OK" to see this type of message, now it appears in the black DVD screen.

Check your settings in the PowerDVD options to make sure it is using overlay. Try rebooting and making sure no other videoplayer-type program starts before you bring up Sage and try again. Lastly do your blow away and install again and immediately go into Sage and setup the DVD options before trying to play your DVD.

Got It!

Ok I got it going.

I removed Java.
Rebooted.
Removed SageTv
Completely removed Frey Directory
Rebooted.
Loaded Java
Rebooted.
Loaded SageTv
From - Setup, Detailed Setup, DVD - "DVD Video Decoder Filter" I set this for the DVD player loaded on my system "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder" (PowerDVD)
From - Setup, Detailed Setup, Video - "Video Renderer" set to Overlay.
From - Setup, Detailed Setup, Multimedia - "Aspect Ratio Mode" set to Source. (Source will show movies in their native format otherwise use the other settings to force a display format i.e. 4x3, 16x9, or fill the screen.)

Thanks guys, snf and Gerry for the help. Now I have figure out how to get all the remote functions working for DVD's
