Must-have Blu-ray titles?

I'm about ready to buy a Blu-ray drive and a few initial disks. I have some movies in DVD that I wouldn't want in BR and some that I would, whether or not they'd actually be better in BR.

If you could only have 5 BR titles, which would you choose? (box sets count as 1)

I think I'll be picking up The Princess Bride (I also own this one in VHS and DVD), the Matrix box set, Contact, Saving Private Ryan and The Usual Suspects...to start.

Transformers*
Iron Man
Probably both new Batman movies
Speed Racer (oh man is it pretty)

Those are probably my top "Blu-ray experience" movies, ie the best overall experience of video+sound+movie.

*Haven't actually seen Transformers on BD, but the HD DVD is awesome.

I don't know, I haven't looked yet, but I'd want those. I was surprised that The Princess Bride is.

most of those above I have ripped most of my HD DVD and BR collection about 125 movies in total

I robot looks awesome, they really did a great job with this one
Disney movie "Cars" for the kids is fantastic looking.
Batman series > Begins & Dark knight, (I'm sure Batman begins is out on BR I think, I just have HDDVD)
The Mummy series.

And alot of the older movies made before HD times, the HDNET company or the people that they used to remaster older movies, does a fantastic job making they look great. Ronin was one such movie.

great thread

thanks

I see a couple of animated titles in the lists but I just can't imagine that bluray versions of a cartoon could be that much better than a dvd version. Is that not correct?

I've added a few more "must have titles" to my list but now I'm not sure which I'd pick if I could only have 5, to start, which was kind of the point of this thread. Other people have already gone beyond 5 so let's make it 10.

A Knight's Tale (fast becoming one of my all time favorite movies)
The Fifth Element (good call Helen)
The Kite Runner
The Living Sea
Kung Fu Hustle
