Buying and Using Third-Party Cablecard Boxes

Hi

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience buying third party cable-card compliant STBs and using them as tuners. I've seen some reasonably priced ones on ebay (as opposed to paying 15 bucks a month to comcast). I'd like to get two and use them as firewire tuners.

I understand that with cablecard that you're supposed to be able to do this, but has anyone actually done so?
