It depends a log on what version you want to revert back too. If you are currently using a beta and just want to go back to the released version then just update the firmware without entering the beta numbers. If you want a older version you need to know the name of the version so you can download. Once downloaded, you would overwrite the stx100.bin file with the downloaded version. You would then use the recoverery procedure to update the HD100 with the stx100.bin file.

I want to do this as well on my HD200. I see the response to this question but do not understand it.

You post, “…If you are currently using a beta and just want to go back to the released version then just update the firmware with entering the beta numbers.”

I want to go back to the current released version. I updated to 200812300 beta. To go back to the current release, what do I do? Above it looks like you are saying to enter the beta number so I tried using the same process as we do for updating to beta but instead of entering 2830, I tried entering the 200812300 then hitting update but that did not work. It just says I have the most current, the beta 200812300. I want the current release, not the beta. Could you give me a bit more detail on how to do this?

Thanks

Sorry, that was a mistake, it should say WITHOUT entering the beta number. When you get to the firmware update page you should not see anything about the beta, just update and it should revert back to the released version. If it doesn't, you can just use the recovery procedure and it will revert back to the current stx1000.bin. It should be the current version, but if not you can update from that point.

thanks for the fast reply.

It will not update to the current release just by hitting update (no beta number entry). The recovery procedure you say to try next, are you talking about the Configuration Reset Procedure listed in the HD200 manual (pdf)? where it says to:
1. Turn the player off by unplugging the power cable.
2. Press the Delete button on the remote and continue holding it as you plug the power cable back in. Continue holding the Delete button until the Active light blinks twice.

Use this procedure?

Yes, that is the procedure I was referring too.

I am very surprised that it does not let you revert back to the released software. I am currently using the 20081222 beta firmware. When I update it tells me that a newer version 20080812 0 is available and asks if I want to update.

I tried this twice and the reset procedure does not revert it back to the current release. I am still at 20081230. The problem is probably related to the same reason it won't offer to update to current in the system update screen. I guess I will file a bug report along with the other problems I was having with this version beta. Thanks for the help though.

well not reverting for me

Hi ..i just followed the steps in reverting to the firmware that came installed and after doing the "unplug, hold down delete key, till red light blinks twice" dance my unit still comes back up showing the "20081230 0" firmware. Even if i enter "beta" then try the "check for updates" it still says i 'got the most current firmware" that is "the beta and the non beta" mode are telling me the same thing. can someone shine some light on what i am missing here...

Are you guys using the HD100 or HD200? The title of thread refers to Hd100, but then HD200 manual is mentioned. I only have the HD100, so that may account for the different results you are getting.

Mine is a HD200. My first post was simply to try to understand the instructions given for the reply given the person with the HD 100.

I would expect the HD200 to act the same. But since the HD200 is so new there are probably some oversights. Do either of you have a stx200.bin file in your sage directory? The HD200 may not be reverting back because most of the firmware releases for it may be betas. I am not sure if there has ever been an official firmware release for it.

How do I download an older beta version? DO I type in the number of the version before I hit "check for update"?

For the HD-200:

1. Download the current default firmware to your c:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV folder on your server:
http://download.sage.tv/firmware/stp200.bin
2. Make sure the SageTV software is running on your server
3. Turn off the HD200 by pulling the plug.
4. Press and hold down the back button on the remote while plugging it back in.
5. The lights on the front (link and data) will blink for awhile during the update procedure. Once this starts you can let go of the backbutton.
6. The unit will reboot itself automatically when done with this update and should then be running.

Do this at your own risk. I'm not sure what version the current bin file is on the download page. Be aware that you may not have any video output from the HD-200 until the process is complete and the process may take 45 minutes or so.

I recommend that you contact tech support before trying this - but it is the weekend - Good Luck! I had to do this when I had a power failure during a firmware update and it worked for me.

It would be best to get the exact name and location from Sage support. But you can use trial and error, but you might end up with a firmware intended for the HD200 not the HD100. Back on 3/8/08 support gave me the following location:
http://download.sage.tv/firmware/20071214-0.bin

It looks like the date is all you need, but this was pre HD200.

You can't enter the version of the update you want. As far as I know you can only the current release or the current beta.

If you have beta firmware loaded on the HD100, then by going to system update and NOT entering the beta code it should tell you that the August firmware is available and do you want to download it. I have done this for the last 3 beta firmwares that didn't work for me on the HD100. The last one I tried was 20081224. I have rolled back to the Aug. version. My problem was HDMI completely stopped functioning for me with the HD100 and a 22" LCD monitor with a HDMI to DVI cable. I would get so signal or bootup screen whatsoever. A rollback was the only thing that fixed it.

The same procedure mentioned above for the HD200 is also available for the HD100 in the FAQ.

That didn't work for me for the last 3 firmware updates. My monitor actually showed that the cable was dead that was connected to the HD100. So no amount of pushing the video out or powering it on or off or removing and connecting the cable did anything. The monitor's led light stayed amber instead of turning green when it detects a signal. g firmware on and everything works. I think part of the problem is that it is a DVI to HDMI cable. I had to push the video out button for my HD200 and that works fine with the latest firmware. But they also added the option in the settings of the HD200 to always connect as HDMI. The HD100 doesn't have that option.
