MetaDataLookup - babgvant - SSL

babgvant,

This tool is working well for me, thanks for creating it! Unfortunately the info on it is scattered through another thread and I thought it might be easier to separate my questions, hence the new thread.

I have nielm's webserver working well with SSL enabled. I use this for data feed to SageTray, ShowAnalyzer and for remote access from other computers including an iPhone. All of this works using a certificate that I created with Java's keytool which is, I think, considered "unsigned." This required a few gyrations with IE approvals etc. and and an occasional dialog warning dismissal but otherwise is good to go.

When I enter the address for the Sage WebServer as: https://localhost:443/sage/home I get an error box from MetaDataLookup.exe that reads:
Quote:
Error: The underlying connector was closed. Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.
The log reads:
Quote:
Error GetDataFromSage: System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.
If I set the WebServer property for SSL to FALSE and delete the "s" in https then everything works as expected. Do you have any idea how I might be able to get this to work with SSL enabled and my own certificate?

Thanks,

Lynn

babgvant comments?

Babgvant,

Could you comment on this? Should it work with SSL? Am I missing something here? I just tried using your latest version, 1.0.0.6, and now the error message has changed to read:
Code:
The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine.
Thanks,

Lynn
